If you’ve had friends in from out of town and had to look for local hotel space you may have noticed that sometimes it’s difficult to find space. Local business leaders and government entities are working on solutions. Last week the Roswell City Council gave approval for a new 120-room boutique hotel and mixed-use space at the end of Canton Street in Historic Roswell. Currently the site is a branch of Wells Fargo (37 Magnolia Street, 895 Mimosa Boulevard and 26 Webb Street).
- Project specifies 73,350 sq. ft. of space for the hotel with 28,124 sq. ft. for mixed use.
- Surrounding streets must have sidewalks and must have pedestrian connectivity to the adjacent land.
- Developer must provide 50 public parking spaces in addition to the parking for hotel.
Beyond the boutique project there were two others business-friendly hotels announced. Home 2 Suites by Hilton and Springhill Suites by Marriott will both be building properties off of Westside Parkway, within a mile of one another. Home 2 Suites will cover 1.9 acres at 10990 Westside Parkway, on the corner of Mansell Road. The hotel will stand five floors tall with a total of 106 rooms and 107 parking spaces.
Less than a mile away, Springhill Suites will occupy the corner of Westside Parkway and Old Roswell Road. The conditional use request for the four-story complex was approved by Roswell City Council on July 10. This hotel will occupy 3.13 acres and include 90 rooms, 90 parking spots and 12 bicycle spaces. A fitness center, meeting room and indoor pool will also be included.
