Spring Welcomes Big Fundraisers With Small Beneficiaries

By Amanda White

Children’s Charities, based in Milton, is a non-profit organization that supports and funds the greatest needs of children in our local counties, which range from equipment to programs to services. Their present efforts are focused on children with special needs.

Children’s Charities has done amazing things for its community in the past. Two for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta were helping fund an Eye Tracking Device that can detect signs of Autism in children as young as two months old, and helping fund an emergency transport vehicle.

They have developed an equine camp for kids with autism and supported Camp Joyful Soles, a Milton- based camp for children with special needs, just to name a few. This 100% volunteer group could use your help in the final stages of funding a new park. The ambitious goal of $500,000 is within reach.

They are planning an all-inclusive play park to be located in The City of Milton. Milton and Alpharetta have many parks but this one is definitely different. Children’s Charities wants to bring something unique to the city. This all-inclusive park is specifically designed to create a safe environment for kids of all abilities and disabilities. Most parks that are all inclusive have a couple of play pieces that are handicapped accessible; this park has over 65% of its pieces as accessible. The ramping system in the main structure alone is one of the largest in the state with zero clearance so that wheelchairs can access its corridors.

There are several ways for you to get involved and have a great time too. One of the upcoming events hosted by the group is the 6th Denim & Diamonds Benefit, located at Shannondales Farm on April 28. Tickets are $125 for reserved seating and $100 for general admission.  Megan Jamison, Denim & Diamond Chair says: “Come and enjoy live music with the Pioneer Chicken Stand Band, live and silent auction, a chance to win a one carat diamond, and this year—food truck wars!” All of this will be in the covered riding ring. Wear your best jeans and bling and of course boots! Tickets are available at www.ChildrensCharitiesGA.org.

Additionally, on the 19th of May, Children’s Charities along with Pinnacle Beverage will be hosting the Summer Opener Wine and Beer Festival. Enjoy beer and wine from around the world at Bell Memorial Park in Milton. Tickets are available at www.miltonsummeropener.com. For more info on Children’s Charities visit their site at www.ChildrensCharitiesGA.org.
