The City of Alpharetta and the Rotary Club of Alpharetta will host the 5th Annual Memorial Day Tribute May 27 at Alpharetta City Hall, located at 2 Park Plaza. The event is free for the public to attend. The Memorial Day Tribute will start off with music by the Alpharetta City Band at 9:00 a.m. The program begins at 9:30 a.m. which will include an invocation, posting of colors, Pledge of Allegiance, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” keynote speaker, a laying of the wreath, rifle salute, and “Taps.” The National Anthem will be sung by rising Alpharetta High School senior, Johnny Serafino, and “Taps” will be played by 2019 Alpharetta High School graduate, Nick Amundsen.
The esteemed keynote speaker, Brigadier General Thomas H. Blackstock Jr., will make the Memorial Day Tribute a truly memorable occasion. His extensive resume touts his commitment to the Army of the United States of America, with his first military assignment starting in 1988. Over his 30-year-long career he has completed a multitude of assignments, traveling to Saudi Arabia, Central America, Afghanistan, and various states in the U.S.
