Historic Roswell Homes Offering Free Tours

The Southern Trilogy Homes of Roswell are offering free self-guided tours on Sunday, February 10 from 1-4 p.m. to celebrate Super Museum Sunday, an annual event sponsored by the Georgia Historical Society. Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall, and Smith Plantation will be participating with over 100 other sites throughout the state as part of the Georgia History Festival, commemorating the founding of Georgia.

Southern Trilogy tours are available year-round, with each home representing a different facet of antebellum history. Barrington Hall is recognized nationally as one of the best examples of Greek Revival architecture and has been named one of “Metro Atlanta’s 50 Most Beautiful Homes” by Atlanta Magazine. In the 1830s, Barrington Hall’s builder, Barrington King, and his father, Roswell King, co-founded the colony that later became Roswell. The Kings’ business partner, Archibald Smith, created the Smith Plantation with the two connected families collaborating to produce a cotton mill and 300 acres of the crop. The Smith Plantation has been consistently honored as a “Gem Attraction” in the AAA Travel Guide as well as ranked #1 of the “things to do” in Roswell list for the 3rd year in a row by Trip Advisor. Completing the Southern Trilogy, Bulloch Hall’s luminary attribute is that of being the childhood home of Mittie Bulloch, who later became the mother of Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States. Visitors can look forward to hearing the stories of this well-connected family and their life in a fashionable mid-1800s residence.
