Groundbreaking Ceremony for Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance & Roswell Dance Theatre
“It is a monumental day in Roswell; hearts have been touched and lives changed because of this family.” Speaking of the lasting impact of the Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance, Steve Stroud, of RoswellInc, greeted guests at the groundbreaking for the school’s new building, in Roswell. The building and complex, named Centre Pointe is located at the intersection of Houze Road and Houze Way and will open in 2019. The pink glitter shovels and hard hats set the ceremony apart in a fun nod to the dance world.
For Roswell native, Nancy Tolbert Yilmaz, the building is a dream come true. Mayor Lori Henry, thanked Tolbert Yilmaz and commented, “when your dreams come true, ours do as well; the city is appreciative of your faith and confidence in Roswell” The addition of this beautiful dance facility and retail space represent the vision Councilman Sean Groer had when stepping up to leadership in Roswell. Like all who were present, the Councilman looks forward to seeing the site come to life with construction of Nancy’s vision.
Centre Pointe will include the dance studio and retail space to beautifully serve and inspire Roswell residents. The studio, a dancer’s dream, features 6 professional studios, an outstanding performance space, private instruction studios, a costume shop, an extensive props closet, a physical therapy suite, and fabulous amenities for the dancers, families and guests. The retail spaces will offer clients and residents, the best in location, consumer traffic, parking and visibility.
“Nothing is impossible,” stated Tolbert Yilmaz to the crowd of over 100 spectators, though specifically directed to many of the young dancers that came to be part of the event. After 38 years in business, the dance school, also home of the Roswell Dance Theatre, continually changes and adapts to address the dynamic dance industry and needs of the dancers. In ballet terms, the pace of change at Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance could be described as an allegro, an intense, energetic and spirited ballet move.
Rounding out the VIP list at the groundbreaking, Dr. Kevin Head, spoke to the crowd of guests, dance families and dancers, dressed in beautiful ballet tutus. It was live streamed on Facebook and Instagram for the community, current dancers and alumni to tune in and drone video footage captured the excitement from above!
During the last 38 years, the school has trained thousands of young aspiring dancers from their very first steps to professional careers. Alumni are dancing worldwide today based on the exceptional training and foundation they received at Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance.
