Chef Dave Is Back!
As they say in business, location is everything and the grub gastropub, located at 1090 Alpharetta Street in Roswell is in an absolutely beautiful location.
“Unfortunately, this had become a drive-by location because of its previous reputation,” says Chef Dave. The first thing to note is that the grub gastropub is a completely new business with no ties to the previous restaurants. To be clear, Chef Dave is back, and if you have not heard, he’s taking his game to a whole new level.
Chef Dave is, of course, Dave Fast and he was the previous owner and chef at Phish Phood Cafe in Roswell and his work in the kitchen was legendary. Now his new concept, the grub
gastropub, is a perfect mix of bar and restaurant that manages to satisfy everyone with an ambience and menu that fits a
family, date, or a good time with friends. Everything on the menu is handmade from scratch and the hard work is obvious from the first bite. The menu’s nomenclature is as adventurous as the chef who makes it come to life, so with names like Tree Hugger salad, Moglie Preferita flatbread, Hoffs Revival, the coffee rubbed Grub-Eye steak or the Country Fried Cordon Bleu, you know you are in for a good time.
“I don’t want the customer to experience the same old thing,” Chef Dave said. “I want to excite the palate and that starts with you walking in the door. As for the menu, I think of what I would want to see… what I like. I keep an ear out for what people are asking for as well, and I’ll put a twist on that.”
And when you do look at the menu you will see something for everyone. They feature a wide variety of starters and salads, wings and tenders, flatbreads, burgers, and entrees. Some highlights are the ‘Tree Hugger salad’ with chopped romaine, fried Brussel sprouts, sun dried cranberries, toasted almonds, goat cheese, and Vidalia onion vinaigrette. The ‘Bonita Mamacita’ is the grub’s electric neon nacho platter, topped with queso blanco, your choice of protein, all the usual suspects, sour cream and scratch-made guacamole.
A few favorites have already emerged in the ‘Hoffs Revival’ and the ‘Country Fried Cordon Bleu’ with freshly made biscuits topped with hand-breaded boneless fried chicken, sawmill gravy, fried eggs, and applewood smoked bacon—it’s the epitome of comfort food. This list could go on, but Chef Dave does not do boring, so beyond the house standards he is constantly looking to push the culinary boundaries with seasonal favorites. He is always looking for new ways to excite your taste buds and some lighter summer offerings are on the horizon as well as a new rotating lunch menu. The grub gastropub, with a completely new look and feel, is the perfect spot for a business lunch or better yet, a party with friends after work. They offer private sections for parties and ample outdoor seating to enjoy the weather with a cold beer from the full-service bar.
This is literally a place with everything going for it. As Chef Dave stated: “I like to tell people we have something for everyone. With 15 craft beers on tap… and highchairs!”
